Good afternoon everyone,
I pray that on these warm days, you are getting some time to simply stop and appreciate the cool breeze. I am writing to you this week with a pile on information about the month ahead.
John Culley’s Funeral
We have now confirmed that John’s Funeral will be held at the Crookwell Uniting Church on Monday 2nd December at 2pm. Together we will celebrate the resurrection and God’s promises for John, even as we grieve his death. Please continue to hold Jan, Charlie, Dave and Ian in your prayers at this time.
This Sunday: Christ the King
This Sunday, we are hosting a joint service of worship with the Anglicans at our Church to mark Christ the King Sunday. We will share in communion, hear the Word proclaimed by Rev. Joy, and enjoy the musical leadership of the St Bart’s musicians. The service begins at 9.30am, and we would love to see you there.
Advent Theme: Coming Home
This year we will celebrate Advent with the Coming Home materials provided by Sanctified Art. Devotional resources will come out to you with next week’s newsletter. I wanted to get ahead of the game, however, and send you the attached flier with all of our Advent and Christmas service times on them.
Hard copy postcards of these resources will be available for collection in the Church, so that you can share them with neighbours, family and friends.
A Final Prayer for the Week
As we come to the close of the Church Year, and turn our attention to the coming of Christ in history, mystery and majesty, let me share with you the words of an Advent hymn by Laurentias Laurenti. May it be a song for us.
Rejoice, rejoice, believers, and let your lights appear!
The Bridegroom is advancing, and darker night is near.
The Bridegroom is arising, and soon he will draw nigh;
Up! Watch! in expectation! At midnight comes the cry.
See that your lamps are burning, replenish them with oil,
Look now for your salvation, the end of sin and toil.
The marriage feast is waiting, the gates wide open stand;
Rise up, ye heirs of glory, the Bridegroom is at hand.
Our hope and expectation, O Jesus, now appear!
Arise, thou Sun so longed for o’er this benighted sphere.
h hearts and hands uplifted, we plead, O Lord, to see
The day of earth’s redemption, and ever be with thee.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Daniel
